The role involves managing patients, supervising junior team members, participating in outpatient clinics, and engaging in research and teaching. Suitable for experienced registrars aiming for further training in sub-specialist Vascular practice. Salary will depend on experience according to the ST3+ pay scale.
We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well‑integrated team. The Vacancy has arisen within the Department of Vascular Surgery at the Northern Vascular Centre, based at the Freeman Hospital. The post is available for 12 months initially and will become a 1‑in‑8 vascular on‑call rota. The post would suit experienced registrars who wish to train further in both general & complex sub‑specialist Vascular practice, which can be tailored to the individual prior to appointment as a consultant. Salary will be at an appropriate point on the ST3+ pay scale depending on experience.
The post holder will be responsible for assisting the junior residents in the timely completion of discharge summaries and other general administrative work on behalf of the consultants.
The unit regularly hosts medical students for both basic clinical and final year teaching. Most teaching is supervised by Teaching Fellows, but the post holder is expected to teach medical students, post‑graduate students and nurses from time to time.
Applicants should possess full GMC registration at the time of application; possession of the Intercollegiate Examination in General or Vascular Surgery is desirable, but not essential. The role offers challenges and commitments to teaching, education, research and audit.
