Overview

Are you passionate about improving staff wellbeing and bringing psychological expertise into workplace health? We are offering a fixed-term opportunity for a Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) to join the Occupational Health team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. A CAP will work as a semi-autonomous practitioner within a defined scope of practice, under the supervision of the HCPC-registered Workplace Clinical Psychologist. This role provides a specialist mental health service for staff, supporting individuals and teams through evidence-based interventions, consultation, training and service development. The post supports national and organisational priorities in enhancing staff wellbeing, psychological safety and compassionate leadership. There is a strong focus on shaping a positive culture, strengthening resilience across the workforce and delivering psychologically informed support safely and effectively. The post is currently fixed-term as a trial to evaluate impact; if successful, there is potential for permanency.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for staff (individual and group) under supervision.
  • Work with the Occupational Health team and Trust colleagues, offering consultation, training and psychological expertise.
  • Support service evaluation, research and outcome measurement to enhance practice.
  • Contribute to staff development programmes that promote wellbeing and compassionate leadership.
  • Uphold high standards of governance, confidentiality and professional ethics.

  • First degree in Psychology
  • Successfully completed an accredited MSC degree/apprenticeship in Clinical Associate of Psychology in mental health in adults or children
  • Registration as a CAP with the British Psychological Society (BPS) on the Wider Psychological Workforce Register
  • Understanding of BPS Professional Code of Conduct and local/national policies defining scope of practice
