The Role

Summary of Post
To support the developed use of clinical IT systems by the practiceteam.
To assist with the system management support of the EMIS Web clinical systemand other associated technologies.
To liaise with the practice clinical and administrative teams to ensurethat accurate records are maintained and efficient administrative support provided,in accordance with practice guidelines and protocols.
To assist the practice clinical and administrative team in the provisionof high quality, personalised care to our patients.
Specific Responsibilities
a.Reviewingand actioning clinical correspondence
b.Scanningclinical correspondence to patients healthcare record
c.Readcoding clinical information
d.Workflowingdocumentation to appropriate member of the team
e.Setting upand running clinical searches / audits
f.Setting upclinical templates
g.ProcessingGP2GP registrations
h.Cullingand sorting patients records / letters in preparation for summarising
i.Summarisingpatients medical history
j.Supportingpatients use of technologies
2.Providing administrativesupport by:
a.Processingstatistical data and management information
b.Processingclinical letters and reports
c.Processingworkflow / electronic mail items
d.Filing andretrieving paperwork systematically
e.Photocopyingmedical records
3.Maintainingpatient services by:
a.Arrangingfollow up appointments / investigations for patients
b.Processingrepeat prescriptions within 48 hour timeframe
c.Processingnew patients registrations
e.Processingchanges of patient details
f.Providingfirst point of contact for patients and visitors
g.Assistingpatients in accessing the most appropriate healthcare professional or servicefor them
h.Processingsurgery lists and appointment requests
4.Supportingthe clinical team by:
a.Liaisingwith Clinical Leads over; clinics, reviews, recalls, QOF/IIF delivery
c.Participatingin new practice initiatives or pilots
5.Ensuringefficiency and safety by:
a.Processingdocumentation accurately and in a timely manner
b.Reportingany significant events that occur in relation to document management and datasecurity
c.Participatingin any associated learning from incidents and complaints
d.Openingand securing premises as rota requires
e.Workingwithin own level of competence at all times

11.Toundertake any other duties as deemed reasonable by the practice
