Overview

Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

The Role

The Climate Control - Control Systems Engineer is responsible to lead the design, development and delivery of the harmonised functional system solution, consisting of multiple interconnected components, and other system interfaces within TTL's customer vehicle attributes. This position is responsible for full ownership of the climate Control System and specific delivery of Core Therma Fluid control system architecture.

Area of Responsibility
  • System Functional analysis - carry out a range of analysis and investigations of the internal customer requirements to define the expected system functionality and their performance targets.
  • Evaluate multiple system design concepts and maintain integrity between system and its components to arrive at a desired concept and final solution
  • System Functional, electrical control and Physical Architecture - Liaise with thermal system architecture teams to ensure alignment required to meet functional design targets for thermal fluid system architecture.
  • System Design Specification - prepare control system requirements specification and developing functional designs, demonstrating how the system satisfies the thermal fluid functional requirements.
  • System design and delivery - Using developed system functional physical architecture, design software control system using Simulink modelling tools whilst updating requirements and control system integration plan.
  • Verification and Validation - Design and develop system integration tests
  • Lead cross-functional technical reviews on the systems
  • Adhere to the defined systems engineering process
  • Manage the delivery of thermal fluid control system design for advanced Electric vehicle architectures.
  • As an experienced specialist, it is expected to support team members with technical direction.
  • Assist and contribute to the generation of system targets and verification methods that are driven by Customer, Function Requirements and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the thermal fluids specialism onto all programmes, this should be done in line with the Systems Engineering discipline.
  • Provide technical support and assistance across the operational team on topics relating to the integration and harmonisation of multiple interconnected components including issue resolution and objective data analysis
  • Work with Technical Specialists and Research Engineering on Attribute and Function Forward Strategies, including new Function Definition and Failure Mode Avoidance
Knowledge / Experience
  • Experience and knowledge in Refrigeration and cooling thermodynamic/thermofluid principles.
  • Good relevant experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment within the Automotive Sector.
  • Model based engineering using industry tools.
  • Requirements Management using industry tools.
  • Good verbal and written communications.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Preferred:
  • Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
  • Willingness to be involved with overseas testing. Note: Typical testing locations in which thermal test Engineers may have to operate, depending on vehicle program and activities: UK, Europe, Sweden, USA, UAE
  • Class 3 and 4PG driver training level (JLR internal process), or equivalent. Area will support internal process
