A regional educational body in Northern Ireland is seeking a Classroom Assistant to support educational activities and provide care for pupils. The role involves assisting teachers, supervising children, and ensuring a conducive learning environment. Candidates should have at least 6 months of experience in a formal educational setting and hold a relevant Level 2 qualification. This position offers the opportunity to contribute positively to children's education and development.
JOB TITLE: Classroom Assistant
REPORTS TO: The Principal, through the class teacher
JOB PURPOSE: Under the direction of the class teacher/outreach teacher/board officer, assist with the educational support and care of the pupils in a designated class or classes, in or outside the classroom.
The precise duties of the post will be determined by the principal.
This job description will be subject to review in light of changing circumstances and is not intended to be rigid and inflexible but should be regarded as providing guidelines within which the individual works. Other duties of a similar nature and appropriate to the grade may be assigned from time to time. Hold a minimum of a Level 2 (or equivalent)* qualification in a relevant area from a recognised accredited awarding body.
*Qualification must be at Certificate or Diploma level. Award level is not acceptable.

Have a minimum of 6 months’ experience of working in a formal learning environment, for example, school, nursery, playgroup.

The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 defines working directly with children or young people or in specified places as ‘regulated activity’.
