The Role

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Chemistry Teacher to join our high-achieving Science Department on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. This role involves teaching A Level Chemistry (KS5) and potentially some KS4 science, depending on departmental needs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in a school that values excellence, collaboration, and student success.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, engaging Chemistry lessons to KS5 students
• Plan, prepare, and assess in line with A Level exam board requirements (e.g., AQA/OCR/Edexcel)
• Monitor student progress and provide tailored feedback
• Contribute to curriculum development and departmental planning
• Support school events and enrichment activities as required
• Maintain excellent classroom management and promote a positive learning environment

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Degree in Chemistry or a closely related subject
• Proven experience teaching Chemistry at A Level (KS5)
• Strong understanding of A Level curriculum and assessments
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• Committed to safeguarding and student welfare

Desirable (Not Essential)

• Experience teaching KS4 science
• Familiarity with AQA/OCR/Edexcel
• Willingness to contribute to extracurricular or STEM activities
