Job Summary

The catering department at Sandwell Health Campus is looking to recruit a part‑time experienced Catering Assistant to work within the Hallam Restaurant. The post involves making fresh sandwiches, serving customers, handling cash, completing control paperwork and general cleaning.

Applicants must have previous catering experience with high standards of work, be an outgoing, hard‑working and enthusiastic individual that is able to work on their own initiative.

Hours & Shift Pattern

Hours: 20 hours per week.

Shift pattern: Monday to Friday – 10:00 am to 14:00 pm.

Applicants are required to be flexible in their approach to hours and duties and able to work additional shifts as and when required.

Responsibilities

• Make fresh sandwiches.
• Serve customers.
• Handle cash.
• Complete control paperwork.
• Perform general cleaning.
• Carry out a wide range of general catering duties in an efficient and effective manner to ensure that a high‑quality service is provided at all times. This post has a significant amount of personal contact with staff, patients and members of the public.

Person Specification

Experience (Essential)

• Previous catering experience required.
• Experience of work in environments where a methodical and organised approach can be demonstrated.

Qualifications (Essential)

• NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service (or equivalent skills/experience).
• Willingness to undertake and achieve a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate, COSHH training and Trust mandatory training courses.

Desirable

• Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
