Job Summary

Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is proud to be the Lead Provider of the West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative (WMCPC) also known as TOUCAN. We are the integrated commissioners of provision for specialist mental health, learning disability and autism services for young people aged 12‑18. We are recruiting for a substantive full‑time Case Manager to join our Clinical Commissioning Hub’s team. The role involves working with patients, building strong relationships across our provider collaborative, supporting a caseload of patients in various inpatient settings, and monitoring quality, safeguarding, and commissioning intelligence to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities

Main duties of the job include:

  • Coordinating case management to ensure appropriate, timely admission to Tier 4 beds and focused discharge.
  • Managing a caseload of patients in specialised secure care, forensic services, eating disorders, and learning disability & autism pathways.
  • Using knowledge of wider mental health services and ICN systems to support patients.
  • Providing quality and clinical governance oversight.
  • Maintaining excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Participating in full induction, training and continuous professional development.
  • Traveling across the West Midlands and beyond as required; home working to be balanced with travel.
Person Specification – Qualifications
  • Registered Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse.
  • Relevant additional professional qualification (NMP, degree, masters) or equivalent experience at a case‑management level in a specialist area.
Person Specification – Knowledge & Nature of Experience
  • Detailed knowledge of legal issues (MHA 1983, after‑care supervision, sex offender legislation, probation orders, life licence, Ministry of Justice procedures, child protection).
  • Detailed clinical knowledge of learning disability & autism.
  • Extensive specialist knowledge through postgraduate diploma or equivalent training, with further expertise up to master’s level.
  • Evidence of post‑qualifying and continuous professional development.
  • Understanding of current healthcare policy and its implications.
  • Appreciation of relationships between the Department of Health, providers, commissioning organisations, NHS England, NHS ICB, ICN and provider collaboratives.

  • Case management skills focused on individual needs and pathways.
  • Development and maintenance of therapeutic alliance with service users and families/carers.
