Job summary

A leading council is looking for a multi-skilled tradesperson to join their maintenance team. This role involves carpentry and other building maintenance tasks, supporting a diverse range of properties. Qualifications

  • BTEC or equivalent NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry required.
  • Good general education, including English and Mathematics.
  • Relevant building maintenance experience preferred.

You will join a team of highly qualified and experienced operatives (Electricians, Plumbers, Heating engineers, multi skilled building tradesmen, HVAC Engineers) supported by an administrative helpdesk team and managerial staff. Delivering quality workmanship to buildings across the corporate property portfolio. In General, the work is mainly carpentry based but you should also be capable of some bricklaying, patch-plastering groundworks and basic plumbing. The work will be varied and interesting and will provide an opportunity for you to showcase your skills.
Qualifications
Essential
⦁ Good general standard of education (minimum to GCSE standard or equivalent, including English and Mathematics)
⦁ Good communication skills both written and oral.
⦁ BTEC or equivalent NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry

⦁ Relevant experience in the building maintenance or building industry.
⦁ Multi Trade experience.
⦁ Problem solving and decision making, resolving issues under time constraints.
⦁ Commitment to continued professional development.
⦁ Physically able to move heavy items may be a requirement of the role, especially when working alone.
⦁ It is essential for the postholder to have good communication skills.
⦁ Excellent team working skills and customer service abilities.
⦁ Ability to use and update computerised devices (including Handheld smartphone or Tablet PC).

Desirable
⦁ Experience working in social housing.
⦁ Experience working in occupied premises.
⦁ Experience of working with customers who may be vulnerable or have support needs.

Knowledge
Essential
⦁ Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
⦁ Principles of good customer service.
⦁ Understands the principles of data protection.
⦁ Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety legislation and requirements.
