Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity to join the Care of the Elderly team at Weston General Hospital. The successful applicant will work with the Care of the Elderly team and be predominantly responsible for providing care for patients on Care of the Elderly wards, including opportunities to work on the Older Persons Assessment Unit, Kewstoke ward (acute medicine for the older person), Uphill ward (acute medicine for the older person ward and stroke rehabilitation) and Draycott ward (complex discharge). The successful candidate will also be supporting the Care of the Elderly clinics including movement disorders, TIA, Frailty SDEC and Rapid Access Care of the Older Person (RACOP).

Responsibilities
  • Provide continuity of patient care for patients treated on Care of the Elderly wards, including opportunities to work on the Older Persons Assessment Unit, Kewstoke ward, Uphill ward and Draycott ward.
  • Support Care of the Elderly clinics including movement disorders, TIA, Frailty SDEC and RACOP.
  • Contribute to the multidisciplinary team and participate in ward rounds and handovers as required.
General medical component

The post involves inclusion on a full shift rota with the Specialty Registrars. This is currently run over a 16-week period and includes long days, on-call, nights, twilights and weekend discharge shifts.
