Job summary

A civil engineering consultancy is seeking an AutoCAD Technician to join their Edinburgh team. This role offers remote working opportunities while contributing to various projects, including housing developments and renewable projects. Candidates should have HNC in Computer Aided Design, considerable experience with AutoCAD, and be able to work independently. Strong communication skills and familiarity with civil engineering principles are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience working within a consultancy environment with AutoCAD and Vehicle Tracking.

  • Background in Transport Planning or Roads Engineering.

Job description
About The Role

Based in our growing Edinburgh team you will assisting in the production of the final AutoCAD drawings for a range of projects ranging from swept path assessments, junction layouts, cycleway design, housing developments, through to large scale renewable projects across Europe.

The Edinburgh team offers a unique opportunity to be fully remote in your work, however as the team meet up regularly you would still need to be able to access Edinburgh for team meetings however this should not preclude application from anywhere within the UK.

As part of your role, you will be able to establish a sound understanding of the client brief. Implementing your own initiative and technical skills, you will support the wider (multi-disciplinary) project team through safe, efficient and effective delivery of tasks to deadlines.

This will ensure that the project remains within budget and to agreed standards. You will be responsible for delivery of assigned tasks whilst acting under minimal supervision, therefore you will be expected to plan your own work to meet given objectives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement project requirements to fully meet the client specification in accordance with relevant standards
  • You will have experience of AutoCAD and the use of Civils would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Prepare own discipline designs, drawings and schedules as identified in the Project Quality.
  • A solid understanding of Autodesk Vehicle Tracking is essential, it is also preferable for the candidate to have an understanding of modelling oversized (Abnormal Indivisible Load) vehicles.
  • Assist other CAD Technicians and making sure that all drawings are complete and sent to meet tight deadlines
  • Experience in QGIS is desirable but not essential.
  • Working alongside the Project Manager to ensure completion of jobs
  • Managing your own workload and have all the relevant information from the briefs
