Job summary

A leading construction consultancy is seeking a CAD Technician to prepare detailed designs for development infrastructure and manage projects. Candidates must have a degree in Civil Engineering and experience in related engineering roles. The position offers a Freelance or Temp to Perm contract with a competitive daily rate. Immediate availability is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience within an engineering role, preferably with a consultancy or house builder.
  • Familiarity with creating detailed designs for housing developments.
  • Ideal candidate should be MICE chartered or Incorporated.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed designs for infrastructure.
  • Manage development projects from start to finish.
  • Support junior team members in their development.

Job description
Overview

As a CAD Technician, you will benefit from working alongside the existing technical team and have the full backing from your technical director. The ideal candidate will be within a commutable distance of Caterham with the most convenient train station to the vacancy being Caterham Rail Station.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing detailed designs for development infrastructure, including site layouts, highways, services, drainage, foundations and legal plans
  • 3D earthworks and cut/fill appraisals
  • Managing own development projects and coordinating the process at all stages
  • Preparing, submitting and closing out of relevant applications including S278/S104/S106, building regulations and planning conditions
  • Supporting junior members of the team, playing a key role in their mentoring and development
  • Visiting site throughout the design and build process to support on technical queries and see the progression of development
Ideal qualities and skills
  • A degree in a relevant discipline such as Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience within an engineer role, with a consultancy background or house builder with In-House design
  • Ideally MICE chartered or Incorporated. Highways and Water/Drainage backgrounds are also relevant
  • Experience of creating detailed designs of infrastructure, foundations, highways, drainage and external work in housing developments
  • Strong IT skills including knowledge of packages such as Microsoft, AutoCAD, PDS and FLOW (or similar)

The role includes a Freelance or Temp to Perm contract proposed, and an extremely competitive daily rate offered depending on experience.
