Overview

Location: Leeds  Salary: Competitive (DOE)

Office Role: in office Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm

We are currently recruiting for a CAD Engineer to join our team based in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Role

In this position you would utilise the latest Autodesk software to produce high quality 3D models and 2D deliverables for various underground civil engineering projects. Prepare construction drawings for design, tender and as-constructed drawing sets, including steelwork detailing, reinforced concrete detailing and general arrangements based on input from project engineers. Temporary works support drawings are also required. You would be expected to work independently and as part of a team, with the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working independently or as part of a project team to produce, amend and maintain 3D CAD model data within a common data environment.
  • Actively develop 3D modelling and engineering skills.
  • Ensure CAD models are produced in compliance with JGL internal QA system, project/client specific standards and industry standard BIM procedures.
  • Prepare scheme designs with supervision as required.
  • Assist the senior engineering design staff as required.
  • Identify and resolve spatial constraint and arrangement issues.
  • Assist the CAD Manager with the development to ensure the quality of modelling works are carried out.

Essential skills and experience
  • Degree or HND (or equivalent) related to the build environment.
  • Fluent in English, with GCSE or equivalent.
  • 3 years minimum experience with Autodesk products.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D & 3D and Civils 3D is essential.
  • Knowledge of steelwork detailing.
  • Knowledge of RC detailing.
  • Experience of working in a construction or an engineering environment.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organization and externally.
  • Good problem solving and the ability to identify alternative solutions.
  • Strong sense and commitment to CAD standards and procedures.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Familiarity with 3D modelling packages such as Revit, Rhino and 3Ds max.
  • Familiarity with AECO-sim, Micro-station and Project-wise.
  • Visualisation techniques.
  • Working knowledge of BIM processes.
