Job summary

A leading technology firm in Fareham is seeking a skilled Cable Assembler. You will be responsible for assembling and preparing cables to a high standard. The role requires previous cable assembly experience, strong soldering skills, and attention to detail. Training may be provided for candidates with desirable experience. This position offers a contract with a competitive hourly rate of £12.50 - £13.00 based on experience.

Qualifications

• Previous cable assembly experience is desirable; training can be provided.
• Ability to solder to a high standard is required for higher rate.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-620 standards is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Cut, strip, and prepare cables according to specifications.
• Perform crimping and tinning of wires and connectors.
• Assemble cable looms using basic loom boards.
• Operate cut-and-strip machines and other relevant equipment.
• Solder cables and ensure high-quality terminations.
• Inspect completed assemblies to ensure compliance with IPC-A-620 standards.

Hours: Monday-Thursday: 7:30am-4:00pm Friday: 7:00am-12:00pm

About the Role of Cable Assembler

We are seeking a skilled Cable Assembler to join a fast paced production team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling and preparing cables to a high standard using a variety of tools and equipment. Tasks will include cable cutting, stripping, crimping, looming, and soldering, following detailed work instructions and maintaining strict quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Cut, strip, and prepare cables according to specifications.
• Perform crimping and tinning of wires and connectors.
• Assemble cable looms using basic loom boards.
• Operate cut-and-strip machines and other relevant equipment.
• Solder cables and ensure high-quality terminations.
• Inspect completed assemblies to ensure compliance with IPC-A-620 standards where applicable.
• Accurately maintain and update job history on all route cards for tasks completed.
• Report any issues that could impact delivery schedules or product quality.
• Comply with all Health & Safety, housekeeping, quality, and environmental policies.
