Overview

Our client is a successful and expanding manufacturing business which has grown significantly over the last few years and has won further orders to continue this upward trajectory. To support this growth they need to add a Senior Buyer to their team. It's envisaged that this person will become Purchasing Manager within 3 years. The Senior Buyer will take accountability and responsibility for all products, commodities and vendors allocated to them.

Responsibilities
  • End-to-end management of a portfolio of suppliers in a number of commodity categories
  • Design and develop department on product specifications and management of the tendering process of new product introduction
  • Lead the sourcing of new product in your specific commodity categories and manage the introduction of new suppliers from sampling through to pricing and contract negotiations and integration into the supply chain
  • Assist with negotiations on long term supplier partnership agreements
  • Identify value improvement opportunities and deliver target cost reductions
Skills and Qualifications
  • At least 5 years experience of working within a procurement team/environment
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work under pressure and on their own initiative is a major requirement
  • Influential and persuasive. Objective, open, honest individual with integrity and self-awareness.
  • Passionate about learning and developing themselves professionally.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational, analytical skills and commercial acumen.
  • MCIPS qualified or a willingness to work towards this.
