Shape the Future of Manufacturing in Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland: Join NMIS as a Business Development Manager

National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) is a beacon for advanced manufacturing innovation. We partner with businesses of all sizes to accelerate their productivity, adopt cutting-edge digital technologies, and achieve net-zero targets. NMIS is part of the University of Strathclyde, a world-class international technological institution with a proud history of driving business growth through cutting-edge research and innovation.

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to play a pivotal role in building NMIS’s footprint in the North East of Scotland, based in the ETZ EnergyWorks facility in Aberdeen. This new facility will open in November 2025, and will enable NMIS to play an active role in the transformation of the region, and the transition from oil and gas to sustainable energy. This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to shape the future of manufacturing in the region through forging powerful partnerships and driving meaningful change to local industry.

What You’ll Do
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with industry leaders, SMEs, scale-ups, academia, and public sector bodies in Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland.
  • Work with cutting-edge businesses to help identify how NMIS can help them enhance their productivity, competitiveness, and innovation.
  • Lead the development and delivery of high-impact R&D and innovation projects in the manufacturing sector.
  • Drive collaboration locally, and within Scotland’s Innovation community to accelerate industrial transformation.
What We’re Looking For
  • A dynamic, proactive, and ambitious professional with a passion for business development and innovation.
  • An ability to advocate with credibility and authority about NMIS’s technological capability.
  • A track record of successfully building and managing industry partnerships.
  • The ability to navigate complex business and innovation landscapes to drive tangible results. Knowledge about the Scottish and UK and EU manufacturing sector and funding landscape.
