Our core values of Expertise, Innovation and Integrity provide a clear daily guide to how we work together safely, as one team, helping each other to succeed.
Whether you have just completed your apprenticeship or have decades of experience we are looking for an enthusiastic technician to join our ever-growing battery test team as part of UTAC's global electrification group.
Primarily, the role of a battery technician is dynamic, presenting new challenges each day. Given the ever-changing nature of our testing procedures, plans can shift multiple times within a single day, necessitating a high level of flexibility from our technician team. Our team ensures 12-hour coverage every day of the year.
Upon the arrival of customers' products, battery technicians assume responsibility, conducting safety tests throughout the testing process. This involves detailed checks and measurements at multiple battery connections to ensure the condition of the battery is known and correct. This scrutiny guarantees that the customer's product is as expected and safe to handle.
Technicians support testing in multiple locations for both Battery durability and Battery safety tests. Durability tests take place in our 14 climatic chambers, replicating environmental conditions and cycling power profiles the batteries may encounter throughout their lifespan. Safety tests push batteries beyond their functional limits to assess the efficacy of their safety features, including aligning with relevant regulatory standards.
Technicians take charge of installation work, involving high-voltage connections, fabrication of test equipment, and the design and assembly of various electrical test equipment to link the customer's unit to our measurement tools. An intriguing aspect of the role includes battery strip work, where technicians disassemble batteries post-test, reporting their condition back to customers.
Beyond tests, technicians also maintain facilities, ensuring the reliability of our complex equipment through preventative maintenance activities. During shifts without engineering support, technicians are responsible for keeping tests running and analysing faults, a critical duty, especially on weekends, to optimise test efficiency for our customers.
In essence, the technician's core responsibility is to safely complete tests and provide expertise throughout the entire process.
Battery department is responsible for providing Battery/Module/Cell testing services, including performance, life cycle, durability, abuse, strip & rate.
Role is to support all types of Battery testing (including Performance, life cycle, durability, and abuse) along with all associated strip and rate activity.
