Description

The University of Portsmouth Basketball Club are recruiting a coach to lead their Men’s 2nd team for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, and beyond.

The team currently competes in the British University and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Tier 2 South East league.

Training sessions take place on Mondays, 6.30am - 9am (1st & 2nd team) and Tuesdays, 6.30am – 9am (2nd team) at Ravelin Sports Centre, with fixtures occurring on Wednesday afternoons (time and locations vary).

Responsibilities
  • Lead on the planning, delivery and evaluation of weekly training sessions
  • Select the match day squad, communicating with players and team captain
  • Attend fixtures and manage the match day squad
  • Lead on performance team meetings where relevant, working with other support service staff to set goals, expectations and analyse results
  • Attend club committee meetings where relevant
  • Promote the club’s philosophy to all members
  • Adhere to the University’s Code of Conduct and relevant policies
Criteria
  • Essential: Fit to work with adults at risk
  • Essential: England Basketball Level 2 coaching qualification
  • Essential: Previous playing and coaching experience
  • Desirable: Good knowledge of Basketball, particularly within higher education
