Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional and highly experienced candidate to support the operational management of our inpatient unit and newly refurbished HBPoS which will be operational in January 2026.

You will operational responsibility for 3 acute mental health inpatient wards, one male PICU ward and the HBPoS. Additionally, you will also be expected to deputise and provide cover for the Head of Acute Services in H&F.

This role comes at an exciting time when we have the development of new services and are working on piloting a number of improvement initiatives across the borough. Your role will be pivotal in supporting the development and implementation of these transformation initiatives. Additionally, you will provide leadership and support embedding these new initiatives in practice.

The successful candidate will have a positive and enthusiastic attitude with a focus on team working and collaboration. You will have extensive clinical expertise and a proven track record of effective people management. You will also need to demonstrate a sound understanding of crisis, community and acute services and the wider landscape across systems.

Main duties of the job

The services for which the post holder is responsible will be multi-disciplinary and may be care group specific. The post holder will be a key member of the senior management team of the clinical service line and is pivotal in the provision of effective leadership in ensuring that positive outcomes for adults with mental health needs are achieved.

The post-holder will support the Head of Acute Services in delivering the business of the in-patient services and Health Based Place of Safety.

The post-holder will be a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and will be responsible for ensuring that services are delivered safely, to a high standard and within budget.

Key areas;

As a member of the service line SMT work closely with the Head of Acute Services in H&F, Associate Director and Clinical Director for the borough and others to continuously improve services

Manage the Adult Inpatient Services and provide operational management and professional nursing leadership in the inpatient service.

Be accountable for overall standards of nursing practise aiming to improve the experience and outcomes for service users.

Provide visible professional leadership and advice to nursing staff at all levels within the services whilst ensuring Trust corporate and nursing objectives are met and inform the implementation and delivery of services.
