Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospital Trust are seeking a band 7 Diabetes Specialist Nurse for a 12 month fixed term secondment to work as part of the Diabetes Nursing team.

  • Join the Diabetes Nursing team to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Support the diabetes insulin pump service, including nurse-led clinics and assessment of in-patients using insulin pumps.
  • Run phone clinics for recently discharged patients and general diabetes out‑patient clinics.
  • Provide education and advice to patients, relatives and ward staff.
  • Supervise and support junior diabetes nurses across site, covering a 7‑day working week when required.
  • Assist in establishing and running protocol‑based nurse‑led clinics for diabetes patients.
  • Act as a role model, educator and proficient nurse within the multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
  • Experience as a diabetes nurse with detailed knowledge of diabetes treatment.
  • Experience caring for patients on insulin pumps; willingness to learn and develop further.
  • Ability to work across multiple sites and cover extended working hours as needed.

All new staff appointed at the Trust are subject to a probationary period.
