Job description
Overview

Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service and manage patients with complex dental, social and medical needs.

We are recruiting for a Band 5 Radiography Specialist Dental Nurse to join the Dental Outreach Centre in Birmingham City Centre. The role supports clinical nursing across Dental Services Division and responds to the complex needs of patients in a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Stock control/rotation and the ordering of dental consumables from appropriate suppliers.
  • Prepare and maintain specialised dental equipment and dispose of clinical waste including bodily fluids.
  • Support recording of patient pre-operative assessments (e.g., height, weight and blood pressure).
  • Carry out duties relevant to this role as specified by the Dental Nurse Manager and/or Dental Nurse Tutor(s).
  • Provide clinical nursing support for radiography within the department to support the clinical patient pathway.
  • Identify staff and students who require additional training within the specialty and escalate as appropriate.
  • Support the School of Dental Nursing, University of Birmingham, School of Hygiene and Therapy and relevant Heads of Service to provide team training for all disciplines.
  • Adhere to procedures to support and maintain national targets of compliance.
  • Ensure the implementation of agreed local Divisional and Trust Policies.
  • Implement outcomes in respect of Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement relating to the specialty.
Role Context

BCHC has a large, integrated network of services across Birmingham and the West Midlands, delivering a wide range of clinical services in various settings and settings. This role contributes to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care within a Dental Outreach Centre.

Requirements
  • The post holder must hold a Dental Radiography Certificate and be up to date with IRMER training; be able to supply a copy of their CPD log relating to their specialism.
  • Base: Dental Outreach Centre – Birmingham City Centre. Hours: 22.5 hours per week (0.6 WTE). Monday to Saturday (8am - 8pm). Working days to be determined. Base is flexible across the service as required.
  • Support the clinical management of the dental specialty and ensure the provision of a high standard of patient care; adhere to Trust policies and procedures.
  • Delivery of high-quality clinical nursing support for the specialties across Dental Services Division clinical sites.
