Automotive Polisher

Salary: £32,395 (DOE) + 15% shift allowance (£37,254.25)

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 6am-2pm and 2pm-12pm (Fridays off in afternoon period)

Location: Dagenham, London

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled Automotive Polisher to handle the precise rectification of paint finishes on parts, using a machine‑operated polisher to achieve the highest aesthetic standards. This role requires solid expertise in sanding materials, polishing processes, and the ability to resolve paint defects, like inclusions and orange peel.

Responsibilities
  • Operate machine polishers and perform detailed hand polishing as required.
  • Adhere to and suggest improvements in established processes, enhancing overall product quality.
  • Ensure deadlines are met to support high productivity.
  • Comply with our client’s Health and Safety guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
  • Collaborate closely with the paint department to troubleshoot and resolve any quality issues.
  • Complete all required documentation in line with build instructions.
  • Proactively identify potential obstacles, offering solutions and implementing long‑term fixes alongside the team.
  • Undertake additional tasks as requested by management.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Strong background in quality improvement and continuous improvement practices.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
  • Proven experience with paint defect correction, paint thickness measurement, and finishing techniques; automotive trade certification in machine polishing or detailing is preferred.
