We're looking for an Associate Principal Engineer to join our growing Highways and Active Travel team within the UK&I Transportation Practice. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on meaningful work across high-profile projects ranging from strategic local authority programmes in the Midlands to major national and international frameworks. Whether you're passionate about sustainable infrastructure, road safety, or innovative design, you'll help shape the transport networks that connect and support our communities.

Your role
  • Provide expert technical input and assurance across a range of multidisciplinary projects.
  • Lead on project delivery, ensuring high standards in both quality and programme.
  • Support the growth of the practice by identifying opportunities, mentoring others, and contributing to business development.
  • Work closely with local councils and national clients, becoming a trusted technical advisor.
  • Collaborate within dynamic, multi-skilled teams sharing knowledge, solving complex problems, and driving innovative solutions.
  • Champion a positive, inclusive working culture where wellbeing and flexibility are prioritised.
About you
  • A background in civil engineering with proven experience in highways, active travel, or local authority infrastructure projects.
  • Strong design, project management, and delivery skills, ideally with experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Confidence in stakeholder engagement, commercial awareness, and an eye for spotting growth opportunities.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status is required.
  • Qualified Road Safety Auditor preferable.
