Associate Director – price reporting and index development

About the Role

Reporting into the SVP for Research and Analysis, Data and Technical Design, we are hiring for an Associate Director – price reporting and index development position within the Coal, Metals and Mining team overseeing the price reporting activities in the Atlantic region and developing new price assessments in adjacent markets. You will also manage price assessment consultation efforts and methodology updates.

You Will
  • Manage compilation of daily benchmark coal indexes and daily market reports, working with a team of market reporters and market editors, following the methodology and Price Reporting Manual.
  • Work with the Singapore‑based Executive Director of Commodity Indexes to develop existing and new price indexes in adjacent markets such as freight, Iron Ore, LNG, Green Steel and Energy Transition minerals, through liaising with industry partners on index performance, methodology and new indexes ideas through face to face meetings.
  • Manage McCloskey consultation efforts and methodology updates, according to the compliance manual, and coordinate with compliance team on annual price reporting audits.
You Have
  • Write and oversee the daily European market updates and trade wire alerts, looking for drivers (eg tight supplies, increase electricity prices, currency movement) for price change.
  • Share insight and contributing market perspectives into publications.
  • Work with Compliance officer to assure all compliance procedures, according to the policy and procedures manual (compliance manual), are adhered to for the indexes globally.
  • Help manage the annual IOSCO audit by providing documentation and working with the auditors.
  • Liaise with index partners on index performance, methodology and new indexes ideas through face to face meetings.
  • Work with journalists to increase the amount of stakeholders submitting data into the indexes.
  • Manage consultation efforts and methodology updates, according to the compliance manual.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role required.
