Associate, Direct Lending

HSBC Asset Management (AM) – Direct Lending Team

We are looking for an Associate to support the analysis and implementation of senior secured loan transactions for mid‑market borrowers across Europe. The role reports to the Investment Director and is part of our Private Credit business.

In this role you will:
  • Support the assessment and analysis of private credit transactions for recommendation to the Investment Committee and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
  • Review information memorandums, business plans, third‑party due diligence reports and build/test assumptions of financial models for new transactions.
  • Monitor post‑completion investments and produce internal and external performance reporting materials.
  • Manage loan drawdowns in coordination with operations and loan administration teams, check investment restrictions, update front‑office systems and contribute to pitch and fundraising materials.
  • Maintain full compliance with HSBC Risk and Compliance policy and support colleagues in delivering the same.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Relevant experience in private credit, leveraged finance or structured finance, with exposure to transaction execution.
  • Strong commercial acumen, demonstrable financial modelling skills and understanding of investment appraisal and regulatory issues.
  • Highly analytical, able to work with complex financial data, information memoranda, business plans and due diligence reports to produce actionable observations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across internal and external audiences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present at various organisational levels.
  • Excellent time‑management, planning and organisational skills and a pragmatic approach to managing tasks with conflicting priorities.
