Overview
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, committed, and compassionate Assistant Psychologist to join our Community Learning Disability Team in North Tyneside. The new clinician will work within a multi‑disciplinary team that includes Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Community Learning Disability Nurses and Support Workers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to qualified psychologists, enabling efficient delivery of clinical services.
- Assist with assessments, formulation and therapeutic interventions under the supervision of qualified clinical psychologists.
- Support with the planning, delivery and evaluation of group‑based interventions, including DBT skills groups and CFT parent/carer support groups.
- Participate in research projects, project work and audits; collect, interpret and report research data under supervision of a qualified professional psychologist.
- Shadow qualified psychologists to learn a variety of evidence‑based interventions.
- Model compassionate, inclusive leadership that promotes empowerment, coaching, quality improvement and collaborative working within and across teams.
- Ensure continuity of care for clients with learning disabilities, mental health needs, forensic histories, behavioural expressions of need and dementia.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with people having learning disabilities; experience with dementia is desirable.
- Experience with psychometric assessment or research is beneficial.
- Demonstrated emotional resilience and the ability to maintain a compassionate approach in stressful situations.
- Evidence of working collaboratively with individuals, carers, families and professional colleagues to improve health and well‑being.
- Eligible to conduct research/quality improvement projects under NHS statutory guidance.
Additional Requirements
