Job summary

A respected planning consultancy in Exeter is seeking an Assistant Planner to join their collaborative team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop their skills in a supportive environment, involved in diverse projects across various sectors. Responsibilities include preparing planning applications and conducting research. Applicants should have a degree in Town Planning and relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (RTPI accredited preferred).
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system and relevant policy.
  • Excellent written, analytical, and communication skills.
  • A proactive and motivated approach, with a strong desire to progress towards chartership.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit, supportive team.

Overview

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected and growing planning consultancy in their search for an Assistant Planner to join their friendly and collaborative team in Exeter.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious early career planner to develop their skills within a supportive environment, working on a diverse range of projects across residential, commercial, leisure, and mixed use developments. You\'ll gain valuable hands on experience and professional development support while working closely with senior planning professionals on exciting schemes across the South West.

Responsibilities
  • As an Assistant Planner, you\'ll assist in the preparation and submission of planning applications, policy reviews, and development appraisals. You\'ll play a key role in supporting project delivery, research, and client communication, contributing to the successful management of planning projects from inception to completion.
  • Conducting planning research and site appraisals.
  • Supporting the preparation of planning statements, applications, and appeals.
  • Liaising with local authorities, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Monitoring local development plans and assisting in preparing representations.
  • Supporting senior colleagues on day to day project management and planning strategy.
About You
  • Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (RTPI accredited preferred).
