A leading healthcare institution seeks an Assistant General Manager to improve patient care through effective management in the Gastrointestinal Services Division. The role requires strategic oversight on performance and finance targets, excellent leadership skills, and a focus on improving patient experiences. Candidates should have substantial healthcare management experience. Join us to make a difference in patient care as part of a top NHS trust.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Gastrointestinal (GI) Services Division at UCLH for enthusiastic and motivated Assistant General Managers to join a well-established and supportive leadership team. Reporting to the General Managers, you will work closely with the Clinical Leads and senior nursing staff to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care through the efficient use of resources. We are looking for dynamic, motivated and talented Assistant General Managers to join the GI Services team. The post holders will support the team with operational and performance management across inpatient, day case, and outpatient services. An important part of the role is to work with clinical, nursing and managerial staff to drive forward improvements in patient care; this includes evaluating and making improvements across patient pathways – both locally and those that form part of a wider clinical network (NCL and NEL). The post holder will work collaboratively both internally and externally to develop existing and build new relationships with partners for the benefit of patients.
UCLH is one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK, serving a large and diverse population. We provide academically led acute and specialist services, to people from the local area, from throughout the United Kingdom and overseas. Our vision is to deliver top-quality patient care, excellent education, and world-class research.
We are dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of many complex illnesses. UCLH specialises in women’s health and the treatment of cancer, infection, neurological, gastrointestinal and oral disease. It has world class support services including critical care, imaging, nuclear medicine and pathology.
We are committed to sustainability and have pledged to become a carbon net zero health service, embedding sustainable practice throughout UCLH. We have set an ambitious target of net zero for our direct emissions by 2031 and indirect emissions by 2040.
We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated manager with substantial experience in both strategic and operational healthcare management. You will need to demonstrate the ability to deliver against challenging performance and finance targets, whilst still achieving high quality, patient-focused services. Excellent communication, leadership and people management skills, along with a can-do attitude, are essential. The successful post holder will ideally have a proven track record of managing RTT and cancer waiting times. Knowledge of outpatient and diagnostic management is required. You will be a team player with excellent communication skills and a drive and energy to improve the patient experience.
