Job description
Overview

We are seeking an Assistant Building Surveyor with a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience to join our growing team. Chartered status is not essential, however the successful candidate must be confident working independently and unsupervised across a varied workload.

This role offers the opportunity to be involved in the full lifecycle of projects, from initial inspections through to contract administration and completion, across small to medium-sized building and civil engineering works.

Responsibilities
  • Assessing and preparing scopes of works for a variety of building projects
  • Preparing detailed works schedules with reference to NBS specifications
  • Setting up and managing contract documentation using the JCT online platform
  • Advising on and implementing appropriate procurement routes for small to medium-sized contracts, including some civil engineering works
  • Administering building contracts, including issuing payment certificates, notices, and final accounts
  • Diagnosing building defects and preparing clear, concise technical reports
  • Undertaking planned and preventative maintenance inspections, reporting findings and managing resulting works
  • Producing and amending basic CAD drawings and details as required
Skills & Experience
  • At least 3 years' experience in a Building Surveying role
  • Proven ability to manage workload and deliver projects without close supervision
  • Good working knowledge of JCT contracts and contract administration procedures
  • Sound understanding of building pathology and defect diagnosis
  • Experience delivering insurance loss reinstatement works (desirable but not essential)
  • Competent user of CAD for basic drawing and detailing
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
