Assistant Accountant

Clifton Park Hospital — York

Full time — 37.5 hours

This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified, financially astute individual seeking to advance their career within a finance and business administration environment.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the successful candidate will be a self-starter with a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and proven proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. A sharp eye for detail and accuracy is essential, along with the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be part of a small, dynamic team within a busy hospital setting, where your contributions will have a meaningful impact.

We’re looking for someone with the drive and ambition to grow into a Head of Finance role in the future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with reconciliations
  • Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers regarding financial queries
  • Contribute to process improvements and support audit preparation
  • Provide administrative support to the Head of Finance and wider team
Technical Skills & Application
  • Part-qualified accountant (e.g. ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective time management and organisational skills
