Architectural Technician

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: £35-42,000

An established and forward-thinking design practice is seeking a Architectural Technologist to join its Cambridge studio. This permanent, primarily office-based role offers the opportunity to take a leading part in delivering high-quality projects across multiple sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the technical design process and ensuring the smooth execution of projects to the highest standards. Bringing together technical excellence with a keen eye for design, you\'ll collaborate with clients, consultants, and colleagues to deliver practical, well-resolved solutions. This position requires strong leadership, precision, and the ability to both direct and support project teams in a busy studio environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical coordination and delivery of projects from concept through to completion
  • Prepare, review, and manage detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with current Building Regulations, industry standards, and statutory requirements
  • Liaise closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to achieve successful project outcomes
  • Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to a positive and collaborative studio culture
Qualifications & Skills
  • Degree, HNC, or HND in Architectural Technology
  • Chartered CIAT membership (or working towards) preferred
  • Strong track record of technical design and project delivery
  • Skilled in BIM workflows and proficient with industry-standard software
  • Effective leadership, communication, and collaborative working skills
  • Experience across a variety of sectors (education, residential, industrial, etc.) beneficial
  • Ability to manage multiple live projects with strong organisational focus
