Applications Engineering Manager - Tyne & Wear

We are delighted to represent a prestigious, multinational manufacturing organisation in their appointment of an Applications Engineering Manager.

The role holder will take a lead role in driving growth within the projects business and maintaining a regular flow of orders. Working closely with international sales teams and the project engineering department to ensure the most efficient system to tailor bids, using technical, commercial and people leadership skills to ensure the applications engineering team provide optimum value and the highest ratio of bid to project reward.

This business offers complex engineering solutions to several sectors, including significant support to the oil and gas sector. The Applications Engineering Manager will liaise, communicate and influence on an international basis with sales teams, customers and internal team members, ensuring the business continue to hit key KPIs around RFQ submissions, cost accuracy and bid quality, whilst mentoring and coaching the applications engineering team reach their full potential.

Key skills and qualifications
  • Educated to Bachelors' or Masters' degree level in Engineering - all disciplines considered.
  • An impressive track record in application engineering and engineering management, on capital projects, within an oil and gas, petrochem or aviation setting.
  • Experience in filtration, pumps, valves, pressure vessels or similar systems and components is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrable achievement in leading an engineering team and working in an international setting.
  • An inspiring, motivating people manager, keen to coach and develop a team of willing engineering professionals.
  • Exposure to projects in the Middle East is preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen, highly numerate and accustomed to bid management, working to effective and robust document control systems and gated, professional sales management processes.
  • Some travel to other EMEA locations will be required on occasion.
Location, travel and opportunities
  • This role will be based in the North East UK and is mainly office based with some occasional home working (one day per week as desired).
