Job description
What we do at KatKin

For uncompromising cat parents who want the best, KatKin is revolutionising cat health by transforming the lives of cats through superior nutrition. We are Europe’s first fresh‑cooked cat food made with 100% human‑grade meat, gently cooked and frozen to lock in freshness. As a disruptor in the $185 bn pet food market, KatKin was founded to challenge the low standards set by the traditional cat food industry. Our fresh food concept is well established in the US, particularly in dogs, with the Farmers Dog surpassing $1 B in sales, proving the scale of the opportunity.

KatKin is vertically integrated across R&D, manufacturing, sales and marketing. To date we have delivered around 62 million fresh meals to over 270 000 happy, healthy cats across the UK. Our team of over 150 spans several locations including London, USA and our state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility in Haverhill, Suffolk. We also have customer‑service teams in London and South Africa.

KatKin operates a direct‑to‑consumer model supported by a first‑class dedicated customer‑service team, and our fresh food and pantry products are also sold through a growing number of select third‑party platforms including Ocado, Amazon and Pets at Home.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

If you want to join an ambitious, mission‑driven, high‑growth startup that’s making a genuine difference to cats (and their people) you’ll love working at KatKin. You’ll be surrounded by knowledgeable scientists, creative thinkers, astute business minds and a hardcore cat team focused on the mission to give all cats the food they deserve – 100% fresh, human‑grade meat.

The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated finance professional to join our team as an Accounts Payable Associate. This vital role within our finance team enables the smooth running of our financial operations through execution of AP and AR processes and supports our financial reporting through timely and accurate reconciliations. You will gain unique insight into KatKin’s workings and broad exposure to stakeholders across the business. We seek someone who is detail‑oriented, curious, and proactive about working with purchases and suppliers.

Key Ownership Areas
  • You will be the key point of contact for suppliers and stakeholders dealing with payment queries, ensuring strong supplier relationships are maintained.
  • You will process and review invoices for payment through our AP platform (Payhawk), utilising its automated features to efficiently process invoices, review accuracy and ensure the implementation of relevant approval flows.
  • You will prepare approved invoices for payment on a weekly basis, ensuring all PO matching and approvals are secured, and lead a review meeting with our Head of Finance and CEO for final approval ahead of payment.
  • You will work closely with stakeholders across the business, particularly with Operations, to remain aware of any supplier issues or delays that may impact payments.
  • You will play a key role in bank account management, ensuring that fund levels are maintained across bank accounts in multiple entities and currencies.
  • You will take ownership of our accounts receivable process, ensuring that invoices are raised in a timely manner to our growing retail customer base.
  • You will support our Financial Controller and the wider accounts team in various month‑end activities and assist in our annual audit.
  • You will own the bank reconciliation, ensuring that transactions are correctly matched within Xero.
  • You will assist with the VAT return, ensuring that transactions are correctly allocated within Xero.
Who We’re Looking For
  • Relevant accounts payable experience is preferred.
  • Working towards an accounting qualification or a desire to start.
  • Ability to work quickly and diligently to process a high volume of transactions.
  • Impeccable eye for detail and accuracy in financial record‑keeping.
  • Clear communication and the ability to work with both finance and non‑finance colleagues.
  • Ability to execute processes effectively and a drive to continuously improve.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary
  • 25 days of holiday each year, plus your birthday off and an additional day for every year at KatKin (up to 4).
  • 4‑week work‑from‑anywhere (WFA) policy.
  • Hybrid working – up to 2 days WFH each week.
  • 12‑weeks paid parental leave for all new parents.
  • Discounts on KatKin fresh food and pantry products for your cat and ₽500 for new cat parents.
  • Comprehensive AXA health insurance including optical and dental.
  • £800 yearly personal development budget.
  • MacBook Pro.
  • Company pension.
  • Regular company socials and lunch on Mondays.
  • All fresh fruit, soft drinks, tea and coffee—you can eat and drink as much as you like.
  • Great banter and a cat‑ (and dog‑) friendly office.
  • No egos and a small, close‑knit team.
