Overview

Salary: Band 8, £34,611 – £39,372. Location: Agile between Stations, Etal Lane (Westerhope) and Ashington. Hours/Contract: 37 hours, Fixed term contract until 31st March 2028.

The role

This exciting role is part of the Intelligence Analytical department, contributing to the creation of specialised analytical reports and evidential case exhibits that address tactical, strategic, and operational needs across the force. You will work primarily with the MIT Review Teams to produce specific analytical reports and evidential case exhibits linked to tactical, strategic and operational review team requirements. The role supports both operational and organisational business needs by developing innovative solutions to meet strategic priorities and tactical planning. Additionally, the position ensures efficient and effective service to support operational and investigative decision-making, making recommendations to drive business activities and assess threats, harm, and risks.

Responsibilities
  • Analyse a wide range of data from a variety of sources to assist sensitive and complex business needs in respect of incidents, crime, organised crime, high risk issues, victims and major incidents.
  • Develop hypotheses concerning the nature and scope of Crime and Disorder, to support operational decision making, identify improvements and force effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Engage with internal and external leaders, stakeholders, subject experts and the workforce to understand the assessment of analytical products and future capability requirements to shape and develop effective solutions.
  • Analyse the activities of individuals, groups, organisations, crime and disorder patterns through the application of recognised techniques, specialist software and methodology.
  • Present findings, both in written form and at meetings. Provide clear and objective recommendations to inform force resourcing and drive force priorities and business needs.
  • Complete data requests and provide analytical products for external clients including Home Office returns and ad hoc enquiries to comply with national requirements.
  • Become a subject matter expert in analysing force and partnership data with the ability to become a super user of complex analytical IT programmes.
  • Produce products to enter into the evidential chain. Attend Crown Court as a professional witness when required to explain analytical findings and receive cross-examination.

Terms of appointment

This is a fixed term role subject to a six-month probationary period. If you are successful in your application, you will have a six-month probation period with us where you will be unable to apply for any other post advertised internally or externally.
