Overview

As a Aircraft Support Equipment Team Leader, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be at the heart of our mission-critical operations, leading a team responsible for the maintenance and readiness of Aircraft Support Equipment (ASE). This is your opportunity to make a real impact—ensuring the safety, efficiency and performance of vital defence assets. You'll be empowered to lead, develop and inspire a team of skilled professionals, while growing your own leadership capabilities in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the ASE department, ensuring safe and compliant maintenance operations
  • Assign resources effectively to meet scheduled and emergent maintenance demands
  • Empower shift leaders to manage output, fault reporting, and demand planning
  • Maintain clear communication with support bay management on priorities and regulatory updates
  • Oversee leave planning and ensure accurate updates to leave management systems

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role. This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Valley.

Essential experience
  • Extensive mechanical or electrical plant maintenance experience in an industrial or military setting
  • Substantial experience leading maintenance teams
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and safety standards
  • Proven ability to manage resources and drive team performance
  • Experience working in a high-tempo, operational environment
Qualifications
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline (City & Guilds 2675, NVQ, or BTEC)
  • Leadership and management training (e.g. TMT, NVQ/BTEC Level 3/4 or equivalent)

Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
