Overview

A Vacancy at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Mid Cheshire Hospital Trust Physiotherapy Service for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 physiotherapist. The role will provide leadership to the inpatient team and the 24‑hour respiratory on‑call service. The Trust provides comprehensive hospital and community services for East Cheshire and West Cheshire and Chester, including planned and unplanned care, cardiac and critical care, child health, maternity, and intermediate care across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the inpatient team.
• Be directly responsible for staff rostering, appraisals and clinical audits.
• Manage a team, mentor and develop junior staff, and efficiently manage staff rosters.
• Provide clinical leadership and support to junior staff and assistants through case supervision, and development and monitoring of competencies.
• Be part of the 24‑hour respiratory on‑call service; fully support the emergency respiratory evening on‑call rota.
• Act as an advanced clinical specialist responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients referred with acute complex needs and to provide care to the broad range of patients referred to the medical service with complex presentations.
• Act as a lead clinician within a specialist area supporting the operational delivery, planning, coordination and evaluation of the Physiotherapy service for patients on medical wards, including service development initiatives.
• Act as the team lead for the physiotherapy general medicine service at MCHT.
• Act as an expert source of knowledge, offering specialist clinical advice and support to other healthcare professionals and agencies across organisational boundaries.
• Take the lead for clinical audit and research within a highly specialist field of practice, developing clinical practice and treatment outcomes.
• Initiate, plan, deliver and evaluate formal and informal training to other healthcare professional staff groups, patients and carers across a range of settings.
• Supervise junior staff and assistants, including implementing induction and competency training programmes to develop clinical skills.
