A reputable healthcare organization is seeking a motivated children's occupational therapist to join their Children's Rehabilitation Therapy Team. This role involves working with children aged 0-18 years with complex health needs and significant injuries. You'll be responsible for developing treatment plans, managing a caseload, and providing support as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidates should possess effective communication skills, the ability to work autonomously, and experience with splinting techniques. This position offers a supportive environment within a well-regarded institution.
This is an exciting time to join Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. We are recruiting for a motivated and passionate children's occupational therapist to join our Children's Rehabilitation Therapy Team that sits within the Division of Allied Health Professions.
The post holder will gain acute experience primarily in one or more specialities: neurology (including acquired brain injury and long term complex conditions), oncology, orthopaedics (elective and trauma including upper limb conditions), rheumatology (including chronic pain), burns & plastics, and metabolic bone disease.
You will work with children and young people from 0‑18 years with complex health needs and significant injuries, along with their families. Additionally, the role involves working out of hours as part of the Major Trauma/Orthopaedic weekend and bank holiday service.
You will work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team within the hospital and liaise closely with a variety of community services.
You will also be expected to work as an autonomous practitioner, developing your own treatment plans and managing a complex caseload.
You should be able to work positively with children/young people who have significant injuries or wounds and ideally have achieved some basic competence with splinting. There is a competency framework in place to support your learning and development. You need to be flexible and willing to provide cross cover to support senior colleagues in other specialities. Effective communication is required to provide intervention to children of different ages, cultural backgrounds and complex needs.
This involves being able to problem‑solve and manage challenging situations as they arise.
You must be a team player who can work collaboratively as part of an integrated multi‑professional team. You must be able to manage your own time effectively and be competent to line‑manage and support junior, unqualified staff and students. You will be well supported, receiving professional advice and support from senior colleagues.
