The School

This secondary school is a larger than average all-girls secondary school situated in the London borough of Hackney with over 1200 children on roll. KS5 Mentor

A KS5 Mentor is required to provide high-quality academic mentoring to post-16 students (Years 12 and 13), helping them to reach their full potential. A key part of the role involves guiding and supporting students through the UCAS application process, ensuring they are well-prepared for higher education and future pathways.

The main duties will include

  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring sessions to KS5 students, focusing on academic progress, motivation, organisation, and wellbeing.
  • Monitor student performance and collaborate with teaching staff to identify and support those at risk of underachievement.
  • Help students set and review academic goals and develop independent study skills.
  • Provide personalised support to students throughout the UCAS process, including personal statement guidance, course choices, and university research.
  • Organise and deliver workshops and information sessions on UCAS, student finance, and other post-18 options.
  • Work closely with tutors and the Sixth Form team to track progress of UCAS applications and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Offer guidance on alternative pathways including apprenticeships, gap years, and employment.
