Academic Intervention Teaching Assistant – Full-time

Location: Kirkby, Liverpool

Start Date: ASAP – April 2026

Salary: £90 - £105 per day (dependent on experience)

Aspire People are working with a warm and forward-thinking Primary School in Kirkby, Liverpool, who are seeking a dedicated Academic Intervention Teaching Assistant to support targeted small-group learning across KS1. This full‑time position is to start as soon as possible and will run until July 2026.

The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering structured intervention sessions, working closely with class teachers and the Senior Leadership Team to help raise attainment and close learning gaps in line with school targets.

The role
  • Planning and delivering small‑group academic interventions across KS1
  • Supporting pupils in developing core skills in phonics, reading, writing, and maths
  • Using Read Write Inc strategies to support early reading development (training/experience desirable)
  • Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to class teachers and leaders
  • Creating an engaging, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and a positive attitude to learning
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and contributing to pupil progress reviews
What we’re looking for
  • Experience delivering interventions or supporting learning in a primary setting
  • Knowledge or training in Read Write Inc (desirable)
  • A proactive, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong behaviour management and the ability to motivate young learners
  • A passion for helping children make academic progress
  • The ability to provide two professional references
  • Have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check
