A leading healthcare provider in Edinburgh is seeking a Clerical Officer/Waiting List Assistant. The role involves maintaining patient records, booking appointments, and providing reception services. Your duties will include the maintenance and filing of patients’ confidential records, recording patient related data, admissions and booking outpatient appointments using the computerised patient management system. You will also provide reception services, answering telephones and relaying messages and be able to work flexibly. Please see the attached person specification and job descriptions for more information.
These posts could be based at any of NHS Lothian sites (Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, St. John’s Hospital, Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, Western General Hospital, Woodburn House – Edinburgh and Royal Edinburgh Hospital). Please state in your application form your preferred location. We have a range of full‑time and part‑time posts available.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
