What You’ll Do

• Lead and scale Lago’s engineering organization to support a growing customer base and technical footprint.
• Define and drive Lago’s technical vision, engineering culture, and team structure.
• Architect and evolve our event-driven, microservices-based platform to handle billing at scale.
• Ensure security, resilience, and performance of Lago’s invoices and metering infrastructure.
• Partner with Product to build a high-velocity roadmap aligned with customer needs and market opportunities.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain a world-class team of engineers.
• Build scalable processes for code quality, releases, on-call, and incident management.
• Collaborate with founders and leadership to shape company strategy and drive technical execution.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of engineering experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles (Head of Eng, VP, or CTO).
• Deep experience with Enterprise billing systems, payments, or financial infrastructure (Stripe, Adyen, in-house systems, etc.).
• Strong background in event-driven architectures and distributed systems at scale (like Kafka).
• Proven track record of growing and leading high-performing engineering teams in fast-paced environments.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS).
• Product mindset: you understand how engineering decisions impact user experience and business outcomes.
• Clear, empathetic communicator with a bias toward action and ownership.
• Comfortable working in an international, remote-friendly environment.
• Ideally based in Paris or London. Based in Europe (CET ±2h) is also fine.

Bonus Points

• Experience contributing to or leading open-source projects
• Familiarity with usage-based pricing or metering pipelines
• Background in security and compliance for fintech or regulated environments
