Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Trade Credit Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit analysis, analytical thinking, excellent decision‑making skills and the ability to manage a diverse portfolio.

As a Trade Credit Underwriter, you will play a critical role in assessing and mitigating risks while fostering strong relationships with clients, brokers and European and North America Intact management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate new and existing credit applications to determine risk levels and provide management with recommendations in line with company policies and Risk appetite.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to develop and implement underwriting strategies and guidelines for the European Market.
  • Monitor and review existing policies to ensure compliance with company standards, risk appetite and industry regulations.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on exposure level for the European market for management review and approval.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact credit risk in European market.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior underwriters and contribute to ongoing training and development.
  • Represent the company at senior industry functions and marketing events, enhancing the company's profile.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements within the department to streamline operations.
  • Oversee policy transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance, including renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
  • Develop strategic correspondence and communication for high‑value brokers and clients.
Qualifications You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or related field; a Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a strong asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in trade credit risk analysis or a similar role.
  • Strong expertise in Excel and other analytical tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent managerial skills.
  • Proven track record in developing and maintaining excellent relationships with industry stakeholders.
  • Expertise in current market and business trends impacting the industry.
