You will support and supervise foster parents, ensuring compliance with regulations while collaborating with social workers and therapy teams. If you have excellent interpersonal communication skills and can build positive relationships with foster parents and children's social workers, we can offer you a rewarding role. By the Bridge is looking for a dedicated, proactive and forward-thinking Supervising Social Worker to join our team.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of the Yorkshire team based out of the Leeds office, offering direct support to our families with a realistic caseload (10-12 families). You will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to enable foster parents to be informed, accept, understand and operate within regulations and national minimum standards. You will receive support from the therapy team who will offer reflective supervision and from our Education Advisors (EAGALs) who build upon the therapeutic parenting work being carried out by our foster parents.

Job responsibilities

The Supervising Social Worker builds positive relationships between By the Bridge, the foster parent and the child's social worker. The role helps the foster parent sustain the child in placement and ensures outcomes for children are being met within the foster family.

  • Support and supervise foster parents.
  • Work with children's social workers to meet regulatory and national minimum standards.
  • Collaborate with therapy and education teams to provide holistic support.
  • Provide reflective supervision and training to foster parents.
  • Maintain case records and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Desire to be a team player who wants to achieve best possible outcomes for all children and foster carers.
  • Experience working in the fostering sector and/or children/young people in social care.
  • Hold a formal social work qualification.
  • Registered as a social worker with Social Work England.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK.
