A multinational energy company is seeking a Forecast Reserve Needs Intern to analyze FCR and FRR market dynamics. You'll assess historical data, develop forecasting models, and contribute insights on renewable energy impacts. This full-time internship offers hands-on experience in energy systems and markets, providing valuable support from a team of professionals. Proficiency in English and a background in electrical engineering are required, with knowledge of Python and MATLAB being advantageous.
This internship focuses on understanding the dynamics of Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR) and Frequency Restoration Reserve (FRR) in the European electricity market. The selected candidate will explore how these markets are formed, their operational purposes, and the challenges in determining the reserve need, especially in the context of increasing renewable integration and evolving market design. The analysis starts in analyzing historical data. This analysis will provide insights into how to predict the reserve need in the future. To perform such forecasts, various statistical approaches can be employed. By applying these techniques to past market trends and reserve requirements, it is possible to develop reliable predictions that support strategic decision‑making for reserve procurement.

Currently enrolled in an engineering school or master’s program in the electrical engineering field, are you looking for a 6-month end-of-study internship starting in February 2026?
Do you have experience in electrical engineering and knowledge of energy systems, or applied mathematics/economics? Do you have interest in power system operations, electricity markets, and data analysis?
Are you comfortable with office automation and familiar with the Office suite? Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, or optimization tools is a plus
Are you a self‑starter, rigorous and a team player?
Can you take the initiative?
A professional command of English will be essential for this position. Good writing skills and basic French are a plus.
