IPVF – Photovoltaic Institute of Île-de-France

The Île-de-France Photovoltaic Institute, an institute for energy transition created in 2013, is a scientific and technical center dedicated to the research and development of solar technologies. On its site located in Paris-Saclay, it brings together its own staff, employees of its partners and those of external companies. The IPVF aims to ambition to become one of the main global centers for research, innovation and training in the field of energy transition.

The IPVF aims to primary objective of improving the performance and competitiveness of photovoltaic cells and developing disruptive technologies relying on four levers:

  • An ambitious research program;
  • The reception, on its Paris-Saclay site, of more than 200 researchers and their laboratories;
  • A state-of-the-art technological platform (8,000 m²) open to players in the photovoltaic sector, and bringing together more than 100 cutting-edge pieces of equipment located in clean rooms;
  • A training program mainly based on a master's degree, supervision of doctoral students, and continuing education.
INTERNSHIP CONTEXT

The behavior of perovskites under real-world conditions varies significantly due to changes in meteorological parameters such as irradiance, temperature, wind speed, solar spectrum, and humidity, which can fluctuate considerably within a single day or from one day to the next. Furthermore, perovskite materials can undergo intrinsic or extrinsic degradation, making it difficult to accurately assess the influence of each environmental parameter on their performance.

The aim of the internship is to analyze a cumulative dataset equivalent to more than 30 years of exposure covering several generations of cells, architectures, and seasons. This analysis will identify the effects of environmental parameters on stability, degradation mechanisms, and phenomena of recovery and to develop interpretation models, capitalizing on the numerous samples and aging studies.

MAIN MISSIONS
  • Develop environmental performance indicators (temperature, irradiance, humidity, wind, spectral).
  • Define the correction and filtering parameters.
  • Compare performance according to exposure configurations (fixed, tracker, tilt).
  • Study of performances in real-world conditions.
  • Link the measurements outdoor to data indoor (IV, PL) to identify opto-electronic losses.
  • To study short- and long-term variations in order to distinguish between reversible and irreversible effects.
  • Physical understanding and modelization: developing models for the definition and validation of indicators outdoor performance/degradation.
  • Analyze day/night cycles and quantify recovery phenomena.
  • Determine the critical stress thresholds related to temperature and irradiance.
REQUIRED PROFILE

Training: Master 2 or 5th year of engineering school with a major in modeling, data processing or physical sciences.

There’s nothing quite like a experience (internship or project) in data processing with Python is essential: physical data modeling and modeling and calculation of indicators.

The working languages are English (required) and French (recommended).
