As a Senior Underwriter for AXA XL’s Political Risk, Credit & Bond team in Paris, France, you will be responsible for delivering a profitable underwriting service to your clients. Your key tasks include:

• Underwriting business within the agreed business plan and individual authority;
• Supporting business planning and forecasting processes;
• Monitoring financial exposure and premium income within set limits;
• Maintaining awareness of all claims and supporting claim settlements;
• Building and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients;
• Supporting the design and structuring of risks.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

• Exercise discretion and independent judgment in risk analysis and evaluation, aligned with business strategy and risk appetite;
• Collaborate within a team environment, support management, guide other underwriters, and work with risk teams and support functions such as legal and compliance;
• Analyze portfolio and individual account performance to develop strategies for profitable growth;
• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and legal requirements;
• Understand AXA XL’s strategy and financial targets;
• Develop distribution and marketing plans to meet financial objectives;
• Build strong relationships within the French market, European countries, and with London brokers;
• Participate in industry conferences and lead client and broker meetings to promote the company's expertise;
• Negotiate with brokers to secure targeted business at appropriate prices, declining non-strategic or unprofitable business;
• Operate within defined authority levels and adhere to underwriting policies and guidelines;
• Enhance customer service performance and deliver service excellence through effective collaboration and high-quality data management;
• Support business planning and forecasting processes;
• Maintain awareness of claims and support claim settlements;
• Possess expert technical knowledge in industry and products such as Asset Finance, Project Finance, Export Finance, CF / CR, UFCB.

You will report to the Head of France / Benelux for Political Risk, Credit & Bond.

We’re looking for someone with these skills and abilities:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; a legal or banking background is a plus;
• Proven experience in political risk and credit insurance at an insurer, bank, or export credit agency;
• High-level technical knowledge and skills in products and industry;
• Advanced analytical, negotiation, and sales/marketing skills;
• Excellent communication skills in French and English;
• Strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking abilities;
• Interpersonal skills to build and maintain contacts;
• Ability to understand and develop business processes and strategies;
• Flexibility and innovation in response to changing environments;
• Collaborative team player with creative problem-solving skills.
