Description du poste

Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer

Leanspace is a leading provider of software solutions for satellite and ground segment operations. We build and operate the Leanspace platform, an ecosystem of APIs and data-handling services to run mission-critical systems. Our software supports many space engineering activities, ranging from satellite testing to in-orbit operations.

Our customers are large enterprises, space agencies, armed forces, and innovative newspace startups, running exciting space programs such as Earth observation satellites, satcom constellations, in-orbit services vehicles, orbital platforms, launchers, space cargo, and global ground station networks. We provide them with the data and software ecosystem to test and operate their space assets with unprecedented agility, security, and scalability.

Founded in 2020, Leanspace has quickly become a key player in the global ground segment market, convincing high-profile customers in Europe, the United States, and other regions, as well as securing the support of prestigious investors and governments. The company operates from its HQ in Strasbourg, France; an international, beautiful city at the heart of Europe, rich in culture, nature, and host to the European institutions, as well as from its office in Denver, Colorado, a fast-growing, vibrant hub of space activities in the USA.

We’ve built an international team of 17+ nationalities, the driving force behind our ambitious mission to reshape the satellite ground segment market. We’re looking for driven, ambitious talents to join us and keep pushing the boundaries of space technology!

What we are looking for

We are searching for a passionate senior DevOps engineer to join our DevOps team. As the senior DevOps engineer, you will act as the Product Owner (PO) of our cloud-agnostic platform (main platforms are AWS and OVH). You will be responsible for planning and implementing strategies for a highly available, secure, cost-efficient, and performant infrastructure, suitable for operating satellites. This includes ensuring a high level of security, achieving accreditation, and supporting ITAR-compliant systems. As we are a small team, you will, when needed, lead by example and be hands-on in the daily tasks.

Tasks
  • You will be part of the business prioritization meetings to understand the short and long-term business needs. You will develop strategies and plans for implementation in close coordination with the CTO. Of specific focus will be the move from a pure AWS platform to a platform that can be deployed also on-premises (and in selected private clouds).
  • You will lead the DevOps squad through the agile ceremonies that frame our 3-week sprints. You will support the squad technically and be hands-on in implementing solutions in a daily fashion, while always ensuring the appropriate level of quality and keeping the long-term vision. We need a leader, not a manager.
  • You will help continuously improve the cloud platform, being responsible for the technical outlook, following trends that might improve or impact our solution. You will push for improvements in our internal processes and mentor your fellow DevOps engineers on how to reach even higher levels of quality. You will also be part of the DevOps chapter, exchanging lessons learned and developing ideas for cross-squad improvements. You will actively contribute to our startup mindset, where we value candid feedback, continuous learning, and efficient habits, and help your colleagues become their very best selves. They will do the same for you to help you master your trade.
Tasks

Your experience matters:

  • Either already a team lead or aspiring to become a team lead
  • A pragmatic, hands-on, can-do attitude in the daily work, while also being a visionary able to look into the future and plan long-term
  • Significant experience in software systems development using AWS cloud services
  • Experience in AWS solution architecture, infrastructure deployment, and management
  • Experience in infrastructure monitoring, with tools such as New Relic, Splunk, Cloudwatch, etc
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-a-code
  • Skilled in code management tools such as git, Jira, Bitbucket, etc
  • Experience working in Agile teams
  • Solid spoken and written English

Bonus points for:

  • Having worked with cloud agnostic solutions, as well as other clouds than AWS, such as Azure, or GCP
  • Familiarity with Java Spring microservices, Kubernetes, Java, JavaScript, Node.js, Python, SQL
  • Exposure to the space sector or other critical high-availability domains
  • AWS Certified Solution Architect or AWS Sysops Administrator
  • Experience with Cybersecurity in the cloud
Why You Will Love Working With Us
  • Play a key role in a fast-growing scaleup and accelerate your career
  • Contribute to shaping the future of the space industry directly through your work
  • Highly international environment, working with an ultra-talented and close-knit team
  • Flexible, family-friendly culture with many social activities and team events
  • Opportunities for business travel and visiting exciting space landmarks
  • Assistance and financial support with relocation
  • Private health insurance, meal vouchers, subsidies for commuting costs
  • Yearly training budget of 2,000€ to invest in your professional development
