A leading steel manufacturer in France is looking for a research engineer specializing in the hot-dip galvanizing process. You will be part of the Metallic Coatings Process team, focusing on optimizing and developing new process solutions. Candidates should hold a Master's degree in technical education with a specialization in fluid mechanics or thermal science, and be proficient in programming languages like Python and MATLAB. A competitive remuneration package and career prospects await in a multicultural work environment.
ArcelorMittal is the world’s largest steel producer. We use the most innovative technologies to create the steels tomorrow’s world will be made of. Every day over 125,000 of our talented people, located in over 60 countries, push the boundaries of digitalisation, and use advanced technologies to create a stronger, faster, and smarter world. To help make this possible, they know they can depend on the support and training that a company of our scope and scale can provide.
Comprising 1,650 researchers spread across 14 Research Centres around the world, our Global R&D team aims to continuously improve the quality of steel and its manufacturing processes. This involves investigating and developing disruptive technologies, reducing the carbon footprint of steel, and optimizing costs while maintaining uncompromising quality. The team's strong multicultural diversity, with over 30 nationalities, offers international experience and makes it possible to meet global needs.
You will join the Metallic Coatings and Surfaces (MCS) cluster, which is part of the Product Research Centre. This cluster, consisting of about 80 people, aims to master and develop both existing and new metallic coatings, surface treatments, and innovative processes.
To achieve these objectives, various areas of expertise are developed and applied, including corrosion resistance, surface analysis, coating behaviour/characterisation, and the hot-dip galvanising process. The position offered is within the process sub-team, called the "Metallic Coatings Process Team." In this team, activities focus on developing process knowledge, technologies, and models to increase production yield, improve the robustness of our current product offerings, and expand them.
We are looking for a research engineer specializing in the hot-dip galvanising process. As part of the Metallic Coatings Process team, you will contribute to the optimisation and development of process solutions (models, technologies, etc.). You will specialise in the snout, wiping and cooling processes. For this, knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermal science is required, and a specialisation in CFD, or a strong willingness to develop this skill, is expected. Skills in programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) to fit/solve models, and for data science usage, are expected (or a strong willingness to develop these skills).
You will be expected to take part in several projects, with the following main responsibilities:
Join us and you will see that your work will help create renewable energy, impact major industries and boost economies. At ArcelorMittal, we’ll help you create your world.
Attractive remuneration with stimulating career prospects in which eminent scientists and engineers evolve in a multicultural environment.
