Responsibilities
  • Creates and designs plans and specifications, using all available sources of background information, for a project or program to meet the needs of the citizens of the government.
  • Receives and deals with requests, complaints or concerns from the public; provides conflict-resolution within area of responsibility.
  • Attends regular staff meetings to review progress, accomplishments, budgets, strategies, and plans for the section.
  • Maintains communications with the various user groups to assure effective use of facilities and programs.
  • Prepares reports, memos and correspondence concerning area of responsibility.
  • Officiates recreation program games and contests; transports participants.
  • Assists in securing, opening and closing recreation centers.
  • Carries out a continuous effort to improve operations, work processes; and works cooperatively and jointly to provide continuous improvement and customer-driven service.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of recreational programming in area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of record keeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations of a broad range of athletic and recreational games.
  • Skill in problem solving and decision-making.
  • Skill in officiating sporting events.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

High School Diploma or GED, experience in officiating games; or any combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and must be able to distinguish between shades of color.
