The Copenhagen Metro network in Denmark, whose first line opened in 2002, now consists of four fully automated lines spanning 43 km and serving 44 stations. Should our bid be successful, RATP Dev will establish a dedicated team to manage the transition of current operations and maintenance activities and deliver a 12-year operating contract. This is a full-time position based in Copenhagen, with an expected start date in S2 2026.

JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Managing Director, The Project & Engineering Director is responsible for leading all maintenance and operations engineering functions, asset management, and project delivery activities across the Copenhagen Metro contract, supporting the PTA investments projects including renewals, line extensions and improvement initiatives. This includes overseeing infrastructure performance, lifecycle investments, project management and stakeholder coordination. The role ensures that all technical systems and projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with strategic objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Engineering Leadership :

  • Define and implement the strategic vision for the Project and Engineering Department.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, performance, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and projects delivery.

Project Delivery & Investment Planning :

  • Oversee all capital projects, line extensions, upgrades, and renewals, interfacing with internal departments, external project stakeholders and the PTA to ensure seamless project execution
  • Ensure timely delivery, budget control, and project alignment with operational needs, safety requirements, and strategic objectives.
  • Lead project governance and risk management processes.

Maintenance Engineering and Asset Management :

  • Lead the development and implementation of asset management and maintenance strategies leading to ISO 55001 certification
  • Supervise asset lifecycle planning, preventive maintenance, and reliability programs.
  • Guarantee optimal availability and performance of metro assets.
  • Monitor KPIs and ensure alignment with contractual service levels.
  • Drive innovation in engineering solutions, technologies and practices, including digitalization and predictive maintenance.

Operations Engineering :

  • Lead the development and implementation of operational engineering and ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations
  • Set up technical training materials and deliver training to maintain competencies, perform data analysis and sustain enhanced solutions, including minimizing project and valuable headway plans.

Stakeholder Engagement & Governance :

  • Coordinate with public authorities, contractors, suppliers, engineering partners, and internal teams.
  • Lead technical committees and represent engineering in governance forum, technical discussions, reviews and audits.
  • Ensure transparent reporting and proactive communication with stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Development :

  • Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team of managers and experts.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Support talent development and succession planning.
EXPERIENCE
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Transport Systems, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering leadership, ideally in transport or infrastructure, and preferably in a GoA4 environment.
  • Proven track record in project management, asset maintenance, and digital innovation.
  • Strong understanding of safety, regulatory, and contractual frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and governance skills.
  • Fluent in English; Danish language skills are a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in multicultural and high-performance environments.
